I recently discovered a previously unknown desire for a nostepinne (aka nosty). Then I joined a group on Ravelry called "Nosty Luv". After that it was simply a matter of nagging to convince DH to turn me a nosty. Fortunately it doesn't take much to get DH to turn anything I want. A few days later DH turned this old rotten bit of redgum fence post:
into this beautiful nostepinne. I love the fiddleback in the grain.
NB: Nostepinnes are used to hand wind centre-pull balls of wool.
I love that my DH can turn a bit of firewood into a stunning piece of handwork which is useful as well a nice to look at.
ETA photos of my first nosty-wound ball.
I used the instructions and video provided by Fiber Fool.
