Linen make-over

The highly anticipated results of my 50% off challenge on my linen cupboard are in...

Drum roll, please...

I reckon I got to about 45%. Not bad, eh?

Now for the before and after pics...

This is the lower two shelves of my linen cupboard before my 50% challenge.

Fairly representative of the entire cupboard, but I didn't think to take pics until I had already started. D'oh!

Ta-da! Labels below each item. All neatly folded. All have a home. I've even got the sheets sorted according to bed-size! Wonders will never cease.
Lots of spare room for op-shop bargains!!! (And I now know what I need/don't need which is very handy).
Finally a home for the vacuum cleaner and its accessories. (It's been living in the laundry/study/middle of the hall...)
And there's even enough room for all of Elliot's sheets/blankets/towels. Now Elliot's shelves are full of cloth nappies and toys and books. Just like they should be.
A few items have been transferred to my sewing pile (fun 70's prints), a few are getting sent to the rag bin in Watsonia, but most is going right on to the op-shop. Hooray!

Oh WOW!!! How good is that!!! You must be SO pleased with yourself!!! This has inspired me to try and make a dedicated linen cupboard one day. I have towels, tea towels and sheets in different drawers, cupboards and chests throughout the house and its just not working. I've got no idea what I've got and the towels keep getting stuck in the sliding door of one of the cupboards. Sigh. You don't want to come here and sort my linen do you??

I would love to come and organise your linen, ColdCloth. You come here and fix up my study into a workable situation, ok?

Hmmm, your study. That doesn't sound too hard!! Although my study at the moment is in the kitchen (we have a very small house and are planning some extensions hopefully sometime this year). My cookbooks are sharing a desk with the computer and all my bills etc. Its kinda organised chaos, especially when I'm cooking and someone else is on the computer. I don't think I'm qualified to organise someone's study!! One day, one day I'll get organised....!!!

That is awesome!! I love the labels and the fact that you've organised them by bed size! And a place for the vacuum cleaner! Thats the most exciting part, ours too lives in the spare room, my daughters room, the living room, next to the buffet, next to the chest, wherever I happen to stash it and kid myself into thinking it's inconspicous!

Hehehe - do I win if I say that in my linen cupboard clean up I ended up with NO linen left in my cupboard??? Okay, so there is a catch. I now have all the bedlinen and towels in the cupbaords in their respective rooms...plus two huge bags of linen ready for recycling.

BTW, ColdCloth, I keep my teatowels in the kitchen in a special spot. I hated running down the hall each time I needed a new one.
And the only reason you think my study would be easy is because I haven't posted "before" pics yet. I'm not game. You can barely tell what colour the floorboards are. It's a disgrace. And I only have 9 days to get the courage up to start on it. Oh, the pressure!

Eilleen - you're far too encouraging. ;) Thanks.

Keely - thanks for the kind words. Yes, the home for the vacuum is the most exciting part. I highly recommend it.

Fiona - that's a bit harsh. LOL! My friend did this for me when we moved here 6 years ago and it only got bad about 12 months ago, so I'm hoping for another smooth 5 years. I hope you like your liberated linen cupboard.

Kirrily (kiwwidane) - so what trash are you going to fill your linen cupboard with now? And you don't get to win, ok? You're nesting, so it's not fair, you hear? *stamping my foot in childish protest*

something satisfying about a linen cupboard cleanout. They get out of control so quickly. I did mine the other week and freecycled alot of stuff
